interventions
(above) Operation Cast Lead - a collaboration by Van (australia), Samar Hazboun (Palestine) and Francesca Viceconti (UK). They are members of international artist alliance Artists Against Apartheid. This particular sculpture was placed on the corner of Johnston st and Gore St Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia. It was part of the Sweet Streets urban art festival in October, 2010. It is unknown if it is still there. Other versions of this work were placed not far from this one. View this MAP to see this work on the streets of Melbourne!!

(above) "Good Morning Afghanistan" by the CEOs, 2009. This work is also part of The Carriers Project. It went very well and was timed for the 8th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan......check the youtube link on this site. There were no problems with authorities. As this was a surprise intervention, there is no doubt CCTV security would have been on their toes!!

(above). Nike Death, by The CEOs, near National Gallery of Victoria, Australia. This was achieved with a pile of leaves and a pair of nike shoes. This work freaked passers by, that one person was immediately calling either the ambulance or the police.... had to intervene and pull apart the work as this wasn't meant to be a 'hoax' type of artwork.....maybe it should've been.

(above) Detail of nike shoe for the work below..

(above) Nike Death (2008) by the CEOs. This was achieved with a pair of nike shoes and a pile of dirt already on the road (Footscray, Melbourne) left there by the local council.

(above). Skeleton in National Gallery of Victoria water fountain. By the CEOs 2008. The work only lasted about 1/2 hour - security raced out and attempted to confiscate the work. They questioned me, got my details and eventually let me go (with the skeleton). A photo (by a passing photographer) managed to make it into MX the next day. There is a video of this work on my youtube link on this site.
