chavez is welcome here (smells like sulphur - the art of telling bush to piss off)

(above) This work was a collaboration between Van T Rudd and Roberto Jorquera and was part of a larger exhibition titled: "Smells Like Sulphur - the Art of telling Bush to Piss Off". It was a petition written large on the gallery wall (Trocadero Art Space, Footscray) with the aim of adding names as the show went on. The petition is part of an ongoing campaign to allow Chavez (socialist President of Venezuela) to visit Australia. The names on the petition included prominent political figures, academics activists and various other australians. The Australian government still has no interest in inviting and sharing ideas with one of the 21st century's most significant revolutionary leaders.
